Of mice and Cats

Yeah more Ed conversation comics! Could life get any better? Probably, I mean if you base your life and how great it would be with a comic then you need some help. Still no word from Zuda about my comic, but it's only been about a week and a half and they said it could take up to eight, so I need to be a little more patient. Well off to work.

how i make through the work day

I’ve noticed lately that I have had some pretty boring jobs. Sure they sound pretty cool until you’re doing them. They are mostly just repetitive actions over and over again. There’s not much variety in them, which is fine for me. I’m really good at just doing one thing over and over again, but I have the mind of three year-old must of the time. I need to keep it entertained or else my mind will race around. The first week at my new job I wasn’t allowed to use my iPod and it was killing me. I really need something to listen to keep my mind from going crazy. In a nut shell what I do is listen to music and podcasts to make it through the day.

The podcast I listen to are mostly from HowStuffWorks.com. I down load Stuff You Missed in History Class, Stuff You Should Know, and Stuff from the Science Lab. They are all funny informative podcasts. Without them I’d probably go crazy. They are packed full of good knowledge that I use to keep my small talk going with people. I also like a little NPR, but just Wait, Wait don’t tell me and Car Talk. Probably the two best radio shows on NPR. They are a nice little two hours I look forwards to every week during the week. The best blog is Current Geek. It’s a podcast about the current geeky stories out there in the news. I’m a geek so this right up my alleyway. I love listening to these short stories to find out that people are making jetpack and weather channel that compare the weather to star wars planets. Blogs, can’t live without them.

Lately for music I’ve been really into what I call pop electro. It’s pretty fun music to listen too. The main CD I’m listening to right now is Plastic Beach by Gorillaz. They have a nice electric jazz feel on this album. It’s made me go back and listen to some of their older music again and realize I really like their sound. Listening to them has also made me listen to other electro music. Hellogoodbye is always an awesome band. Then a new band I found was the Electric Valentine. They have a very pop feel to them. More pop than Gorillaz ever has been. Music, so much fun.

So pretty much I run on autopilot while I’m at work. My mind is focused on podcast and music so much more than what I’m actually doing. I just use muscle memory to do my job, which is kind of scary that I can do that. Plus I’ve been doing that for multiple jobs over the years. I think it’s almost time to try and find a challenging job again.

i finally did it

After three or four months of debating and freaking out I finally sent in my Ed the business warrior comic to Zuda today. I know, it's a little crazy to think that I have a comic submission into a real comic company. I won't know if they will select my comic for publication or the comic contest for awhile. The website said it could take up to eight weeks. Who knows if I'll even be excepted, but I took a big step today. I'm actually trying to get my work published and on a site that see more than just my family visit it. If i get into the contest I'll consider that an amazing feat. I'll let everyone know when I hear from Zuda. It might be a while, but until then I'm going to give you a preview to some Ed comics. These come from the Ed conversation comics I was working on before I started my Zuda. They won't be in the Zuda comic, but they are good.

year of the flash

I have decide this to be the year of the Flash. Why you might ask? Well that is a good question. The main reason is he is cool. The Scarlett Speedster is fast and has a great line up of villains. To learn about the Flash I have been reading Flash comics from the library and also listening to Tom vs the Flash which is a great podcast. Tom pretty much reads a golden age issue of the flash every pod cast. It's nice because now I can have my comics at work and at home. Although being read a comic is a little different than actually reading it. Still it's pretty cool. The new Flash series begins soon with Barry Allen as the Flash. Plus you get a free flash ring when you buy the first issue. I'm so there. Flash out.

m is for imagination

Life has so many turns in it. I never know when I'll be out lefts and only have rights left. I figure some day I'll lose my crazy imagination. It's one of the few things I that I have that is excellent. I can be lost in my mind having adventures for hours. I've done this since I was a little kid and I think that most people don't do this anymore, I could be wrong. If I am let me know. Well I want to keep this imagination as long as I can. I've decide to start exercising it. I've been doing this by forcing myself to draw a comic a day. I don't always get one made, but I've been trying. Yesterday was one of those days I didn't finish a comic, but I made a minute stop-motion movie, so I think that was more than enough exercise for my imagination. I've drawn some really cool monster comics, so I figured I'd post them. Plus I'm going to post the movie too. Hope you enjoi.

dreams never end well

I’m not one to talk about my dreams. I usually just forget them before I get out of my warm cozy bed. It is a rare occasion that I actually remember anything about my dreams. Last night is one of those nights were I had a very vivid dream. Even after a full day at work I can remember the dream. I don’t have all the details, but I do have a few of them. I would title this dream, “The Insane Hit.” The dream mostly consisted of Vinnie Jones chasing me through the city trying to kill me. If anyone knows how Vinnie Jones is they would know this would be scary. He plays a great hit man in many English films. He’s kind of like Bullseye (a daredevil comic book villain) in this dream too. He using anything he can get his hands on to kill me. This is one crazy dream. He’s shooting guns, throwing knives. At one point he gets close enough to actually stab my leg with a pen! He used a normal BIC pen and stabs me in my right thigh. It was so insane. To get away from Vinnie I finally hide in VW van, the kind with a camper top. This van drives me around the town avoiding Vinnie for awhile. I finally get to the airport with police protection somehow; my leg is killing because I haven’t been to hospital to fix it. I look out and I see the mafia. They all were just sitting in the terminal look at me. They look mad. I guess I had flipped or knew something about them. I yell at the cops that there they are. The police start running towards them and the mafia gets up to run. I also start to chase after them with my messed up leg. It was easily the craziest dream I’ve ever remembered. All day at work my legs were killing me too. It felt like I had run all night trying to avoid Vinnie. Life can be really crazy at times. I just hope this dream doesn’t come true.

one week in

My first official week at my new job is done. I’ve been there for four weeks now, but the first three were all training, really boring training too. I never thought we’d actually open the doors for business. This last week was interesting, we had my normal manager and then three more managers helping us on our first week open. We also had two clients watching over us as we processed our inventory. Now we only have seven employees in my area where everyone was. On top of that we only have about four employees working at a time. So we had a manager for each employee. Each one was telling us different things. This first week of business was a crazy one. At the end of the week I was suckered into closing so my co-worker could do something with his fiancée. At close I counted down the inventory and came up short by a lot. Enough to put everyone in a fuss. After two hours of searching we couldn’t find it anywhere, so we called it a night. We called a couple of our carriers to see if we might have shipped out extra inventory to them. Luckily after a couple of hours one of our carriers called us back to inform us they did indeed have our missing inventory. What a week. The rest of the week sailed smoothly except for that last night. Tomorrow begins week two. What adventures await me? Only extra two managers to keep me in line.
