lame things

I've talked before about how I'm addicted to lame TV shows and I just can't stop watching them because they suck me in so well. That's not where the lameness ends. I am also addicted to horrible flash games. Games that bring nothing but wasted time. Wasted time that I could be spend on drawing comics, watching crap TV, or even reading a comic or book. These games are so horrible too. One of my favorites is Tap Fish, the whole game is you look at these aquarium you have and feed your fish. You can also sell your fish to make money and buy new fish. So everyday for at least thirty minutes to an hour I'm cleaning fish tanks and selling fish. Why do I keep playing this game? I don't really know. I just get addicted to things that are not that much fun and play them till they are dead to me. Well more like my soul is dead to these games.

A new game I just started to play is Office Hero. It's like Farmville I'm told, but in an office. I go around and tap on different machines like computers, phones, filing cabinets to do jobs. This is a sick habit! I spend eight hours at work doing this everyday, why do I want to do it at home too? Even while I'm doing this blog I'm tapping away at my virtual office trying to make money and rep points. I'm so addicted I can't even stop for five minutes to write this blog.

The real person I should blame for this is Allison. She gave me my ipod touch, the majority of these time wasting games I play are on the ipod touch. It's all Allison's fault for giving me an awesome time waster gift. She may be the best wife ever, but she the reason I'm addicted to flash games that have no reward and tons of time wasting on them. Oh yes Allison is to blame.

the first one is always free

Many people know I love comic books. This is no surprise to anyone, but lately Vertigo an imprint of DC Comics has started a new selling system. Vertigo is now selling their first issues of new series for only 99 cents. This might not sound like a cheap price since comic use to be 20 cents, but as long as I’ve read comics they have been 99 cents. Right now a normal comic sells for 2.99 or 3.99. Then special issues sell for about 5 or 6 bucks; 99 cents is cheap in today’s comic world. Well being a junkie for comics I can’t turn down a 99 cent comic. It’s so cheap and sometimes you can even get those even cheaper when they are discounted. Reading comics is like getting a junkie fix and when they give you the first one almost free you want more. Like last week Grant Morrison had a new comic through Vertigo called Joe the Barbarian. Normally I wouldn’t pick it because I don’t read Vertigo comics by the issue, but it was a buck. I also enjoy reading Grant Morrison; he’s one crazy comic writer. I also normally read Vertigo comics by the trade. Vertigo knows how to get me. This isn’t the first time they’ve done it either. The last one was Sweet Tooth. That’s one sweet comic. I read the first three issues before I had to stop. Vertigo has some really good series and they are marketing to the comic book nerds really well. I should know I’m a comic nerd. On top of the cheap first issue they also do a cheap first trade of the comics. The first trades are usually ten bucks instead of 15. They discount those trades to try a get a comic nerd hook a second time. It’s almost like they are selling crack. I see them and I must have it. I need my comic fix. I will be the first to admit, I’m a comic junkie. I’m a junkie all the way. Before I got married if I had to choose between buying food and buying comics; comics always won. Sadly that is no longer the case. I have to live in a very tight comic budget that doesn’t allow for many comics. My love prefers to have food in the fridge compared to comics in my hands. She might be right, but only time will tell.

crap

Have you ever woken up and realized you can’t help yourself anymore. You are addicted to what someone might consider the worst thing ever. Every morning, okay maybe every day at some point in the day I realize I’m addicted to crap. Not like good crap, but crap TV. I have been watching crap TV for years, because I can’t help myself. Once I start I can’t stop watching. I want to know what happens; I want to know the whole story. I need to know what is going on. My main point would be Scrubs. I didn’t watch all of last season, because I didn’t have a good internet connection. Well now I do have a good connection. I’ve watched all the episodes of Scrubs season nine or Med School as they call it. The first episode was horrible. Everything that was good about the first season of Scrubs is gone. Now it’s just this really dumb comedy. The two main characters have been written down to stupid stereotypes. They don’t have any depth, yet here I am watching it. Five episodes in and there have been only ten minutes of good show in about 100 minutes of show. Yet I can’t stop watching. I love this crap; I even told my wife that this stuff is crap. I know its crap, but I need it. I need to know what happens to these crazy stereotype characters are going to do, but if you give me an outline of the show, I can tell you what will happen. Why? Why, does crap have to be so powerful on me? I’m just a sucker. Another good example is Stargate Universe. That show has been only decent at best, till the very last episode they had. I wasn’t going to watch this show after the 1st episode, but I just keep watching because I need some spaceship action in my life. So Stargate Universe is my show now. Then the cliff hanger at the end of the season break was unforeseen by me. I didn’t see it happening and now I can’t wait till it comes back. Sure it wasn’t crap but it wasn’t great either and now I have to watch it ever chance I get. I’m almost sure the show won’t be any more amazing after the break, but I hope it does. As long as television makes crap I’ll be there to love it. I need my crap, I’m addicted.
